Nature Tribes and Dragons in Flores

Day 1: Denpasar – Maumere.

Arrival at Frans Seda Airport, Maumere. Our representative will pick you up at the airport and will take you directly to your hotel. In the afternoon is free of program. Dinner and overnight at Sea World Club Hotel.

Day 2: Maumere – Moni.

You starting the day by visiting the museum of Ledalero located at the outskirts of Maumere. The museum has an interesting collection of ethnological objects from all over the region. Ledalero is named after a major catholic seminary, which is known to bring out many florenese priests. Then you continue to Sikka Village, a very famous district for its traditional weaving using organic dyes. Enjoy the serenity of Paga Beach during lunch, before going on a leisurely trek to Jopu and Ranggase villages in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the Kelimutu Eco Lodge in Moni.

Day 3: Moni – Kelimutu – Ende – Riung.

In the early morning at 04.00 am the car takes you to the three colored lakes of Kelimutu, one of the most spectacular and mysterious sights in Indonesia. You will witness a beautiful sunrise. Then you return to the hotel and after having breakfast you continue the trip to Ende. On the way several stops will be made i.e. in Nangapanda or the blue pebble beach. Dinner and overnight in Pondok SVD Riung.

Day 4: Riung Marine Park.

Today you will spend your time hopping around the 17 islands of the gorgeous Riung Marine Park– a chain of large and small islands i.e. Pau, Borong, Ontoloe, Dua, Kolong, Lainjawa, Besar, Halima and a lot more. All islands are uninhabited and their coastlines are pure white sand beaches. At Ontoloe Island you can watch flying foxes and bats. Afterwards you enjoy those magnificent beaches and the cristal clear water by swimming, snorkeling or just relaxing. In the afternoon you return to Riung. Dinner and overnight at Pondok SVD Riung.

Day 5: Riung – Bajawa.

In the morning you drive to Bajawa, a small town located 1200m above sea level, and indulge your senses with wonderful scenery along the way. Passing by the hot springs of Soa you have the chance to take a relaxing bath there, before joining the Bajawa city tour in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight in Bintang Wisata or Happy-Happy Hotel or similar.

Day 6: Bajawa – Ruteng – Labuan Bajo.

After breakfast you visit Bena – an ancient Ngadanese village above 1.5 hours away from Bajawa. Experience the unique way of life with the traditional houses and the ceremonies that are still authentic in a long-preserved tradition. After that you continue to Aimere, the centre of “Arak”-production and later take a medium hike along the rainforest trail of Ranamese’s crater lake. Lunch will be at local Restaurant in Ruteng. After lunch drive direct to Cancar to see the unique lingko, circular rice fields arranged like a spider web. The car then takes you directly to Labuan Bajo. Overnight at Puri Sari Beach Hotel or similar.

Day 7: Labuan Bajo - Rinca Island – Kalong Island.

After breakfast, the car will take you directly to the pier of Labuan Bajo. The boat there will leave for the island of the dragons, Rinca. Lunch is provided on board during the two-hour-sail to the home of the Komodo Dragon. Once arrived at Rinca Island a trekking tour of approx. 1.5 hours awaits, that is the best opportunity to see the unique dragons and their prey, passing the dragon nests and out into the sunshine across an exposed savannah studded with lontar palms. Reaching the top of the exposed slopes you will be rewarded with breathtaking views. In the afternoon you can watch flying foxes and bats. Dinner and overnight on the boat.

Day 8: Kalong Island - Komodo Island – Pink Beach – Labuan Bajo.

In the early morning after breakfast you sail from Kalong Island to Komodo Island. At Komodo Island you start for a medium trek of approx. 1.5 hours. Passing a waterhole you might see some timor deer, wild pigs and Komodo Dragons. You will climb Sulphurea Hill and Frigate Hill, where a magnificent view across the islands, bays and beaches awaits. After the hiking trip you return to the boat and proceed to the Pink Beach. This peculiar beach gets its color from red coral fragments. It is definitely a great place to spend some time by just laying back or enjoying the spectacular underwater world by snorkeling. Lunch will then be provided on board and in the afternoon you sail back to Labuan Bajo

Day 9: Labuan Bajo – Denpasar

In the morning you are taking a small excursion to the Batu Cermin Cave before we provide transfer to the airport for you to catch the flight back to Denpasar/Bali.
